How I Work
Each client is an individual with unique history, experience and expectations. I tailor our work together to best meet goals and wishes. I am trained in psychodynamic, attachment and cognitive behavioral theories.
Adults and Couples
I help clients identify true wishes and learn how to build satisfying relationships. Sometimes we focus on current relationships and sometimes we identify the patterns in early relationships to understand how they influence our current relationships. We use this insight to try out new ways of interacting. I also help couples understand how they get stuck and how they can use new strategies, like really listening to each other, to feel heard and understood. I believe that when we are in securely attached relationships with our partners, parents, and friends, we are more open to opportunities and seek out the most fulfilling aspects of our true selves.
Children and Adolescents
I use a variety of play therapy techniques, with children, including art, puppets, dolls, and games, to build trust and comfort. Play allows children the opportunity to express their needs and feelings. I connect with adolescents through art, collage, music, or talk therapy. Many times adolescents are able to share more of their struggles with someone outside of the family, and then appreciate help in communicating their needs back to their families. I schedule regular meetings with parents to ensure good communication and extension of our work to the family environment.
Fees and Insurance
Currently, I take private pay. Typical sessions are 50 minutes.
Family and couples may benefit from longer 75 minute sessions. Please call for appointment availability and fees.
I can provide invoices for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Check with your insurance company to verify acceptance of out-of-network providers.
